A recurring task should have a clear finish. Once you have verified the result, complete it so future reminders do not keep interrupting your day.
Finish a recurring task because the work is done, not merely because an alert appeared.
Check the real outcome
Read the response, inspect the saved document or confirm the action in the relevant external service. A reminder disappearing is not proof that the work happened. If you are still waiting, acknowledge the review or move the next check-in rather than marking the task complete.
Keep useful history
Complete task & stop repeats preserves the entry while removing its future task alerts. You can still read saved information and export it under the app’s access rules. Before deleting a source, consider whether its record, image preview or notes will be useful later.
Keep the task and its review separate
Before stopping a recurring reminder, read the original task title as a question: has that particular outcome happened? Receiving a response may finish “ask for the document” while leaving “read the corrected document” unfinished. Update the title or notes if the real next step changed during the conversation. When the intended result is checked, complete the task and inspect whether a separate custom reminder still needs attention. Retain the source when it explains the final decision or may be needed later. A clean finish leaves neither pointless recurring prompts nor an unsupported claim that everything connected with the source has been resolved merely because one message arrived.
Your little checklist.
Open the task and inspect the latest source information.
Confirm that the intended outcome has been reached.
Choose Complete task & stop repeats.
Keep or export the record if its history remains useful.
A little reference.
Keep the context and your next action together.
| Choice | Use it for | Check before saving |
|---|---|---|
| Acknowledge | Only today’s review is done | Keep task open |
| Complete | The whole job is finished | Stops task repeats |
| Delete source | Remove saved source data | Check retention needs first |
Will completing a task delete its source document?
Task completion and source deletion are different actions. Inspect the saved record separately before removing it.
