A LITTLE LIFE GUIDE / COMPARISON

Pause alerts while keeping the task open

Temporarily quiet an entry without deleting its evidence or changing its status.

A request may be waiting on someone else, or you may need a quiet interval before returning to a document. Pausing alerts keeps the record available without pretending it is resolved.

THE LITTLE THING TO REMEMBER

A paused task is still work you intend to remember, not completed work.

01

Choose the right kind of pause

Pause review alerts mutes the entry’s reviews while retaining their scheduled dates. Pause focus timer freezes the remaining countdown duration. These are different controls: stopping a timer is not the same as muting every future review on the entry.

02

Leave yourself a return path

Keep a short note explaining why alerts were paused and when you expect to revisit the task. When the waiting period ends, open the entry and resume its alerts. Deleting the record just to silence notifications also removes useful local context.

03

Keep the task and its review separate

Suppose you are waiting until a provider reopens on Monday. Pause the review alerts and record “resume when the office is open” in the task’s notes so the quiet period has an explanation. Before resuming, inspect the stored next occurrence and decide whether its date still fits. If you also paused a reading session, check the focus countdown separately; its remaining duration answers a different question from the reminder schedule. Keep the source available while the task is quiet. Deleting it would remove context you may need when work resumes, whereas pausing lets the entry remain a useful record of a decision that is still unfinished.

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

One step at a time.

  1. 01

Open the entry you want to quiet temporarily.

  2. 02

Choose Pause review alerts for its scheduled reviews.

  3. 03

Add a short note explaining the waiting period.

  4. 04

Resume alerts when you are ready to review again.

A little reference.

Keep the context and your next action together.

ONE MORE QUESTION

Do paused dates disappear?

The pause retains the review configuration. Open the entry and inspect it before resuming alerts.

Your source stays the reference.
