A small review window can help you start a document you have been avoiding. A two-minute focus timer sets a work session, while the review schedule continues to answer when to return.
A short timer should make starting easier while leaving the final decision with you.
Keep the session narrow
Choose one source and one purpose, such as confirming the due date or writing the next question. The timer cannot decide whether the document is correct or whether you have read enough. Use notes to capture what you want to remember after the session.
Finish the review explicitly
Set the focus timer in the task editor and save it. At the end, acknowledge the check-in if appropriate, then decide whether to continue, move another review or complete the task. A timer reaching zero is not automatic proof that the overall job is finished.
Stay in control of the schedule
Choose a narrow question for the two-minute session, such as “which date is the response due?” Open the original source before starting rather than spending the session looking for it. When the countdown finishes, note the date you verified or the detail you still could not find. You can then acknowledge the scheduled review, continue reading or create a clearer next action on the existing task. Avoid equating two minutes elapsed with two minutes of useful review if you were interrupted. The result of the session should be a small piece of checked information that improves the record, even when the larger task remains unfinished.
One step at a time.
- 01
Open the action linked to the document.
- 02
Set its focus timer to 2 minutes.
- 03
Save and open the source for the review session.
- 04
Record your finding and acknowledge the check-in when done.
A little reference.
Keep the context and your next action together.
| Choice | Use it for | Check before saving |
|---|---|---|
| Focus timer | Duration of this session | Set two minutes |
| Review rule | When to return | Keep separate |
| Task completion | Overall job finished | Confirm explicitly |
Will starting a timer consume another entry?
The timer belongs to the saved task. Editing it does not create a new captured entry.
