Receipts often show subtotal, tax, discount, amount paid and balance. Those numbers describe a calculation; they are not necessarily separate expenses you should add together.
Read the receipt’s arithmetic before making a spending record.
Start with the source
Locate the field that represents the supported final amount for the record. Check whether a subtotal already includes the listed items, and whether a later total includes tax. Read the labels rather than choosing the largest visible number.
Make the review useful
Correct the proposed amount before confirming spending. The bill record represents one reviewed capture, not a spreadsheet that automatically audits each printed line. Keep any uncertainty in your notes and use the original service to resolve it.
Keep the next step clear
After saving, open the record from the dashboard and compare its amount with the source again if the month total looks surprising. Do not fix an unexpected dashboard by inventing a different total without checking which record caused it.
One step at a time.
- 01
Find subtotal, tax, discount and total labels.
- 02
Identify the figure supported as the final charge.
- 03
Review currency and payment status as separate fields.
- 04
Confirm the amount only after comparing it with the source.
A little reference.
Keep the context and your next action together.
| Check | Example | Your next step |
|---|---|---|
| Subtotal | Items before tax | Not an extra charge beside the total |
| Tax | Already included in final total | Avoid adding it again |
| Paid total | Final confirmed receipt figure | Use the supported amount |
Does OneTap audit every line-item calculation?
The dashboard uses your reviewed record amount; it does not promise a full accounting audit or automatic reconciliation of receipt arithmetic.
These guides explain product workflows. Review extracted names, dates and amounts. Features depend on your device, permissions and optional service setup.
A little more clarity, in your pocket.
