A LITTLE LIFE GUIDE / COMPARISON

Choose a processing mode before reading a source

Understand where the displayed text or image will go.

OneTap offers different reading paths for different situations. Before asking it to find next steps, inspect the selected mode instead of assuming every operation is local or every operation uses a server.

THE LITTLE THING TO REMEMBER

The processing choice is part of reviewing a capture, not an invisible implementation detail.

01

Start from the source you actually need

A clear screenshot or text document may be handled with on-device OCR and rules. More interpretation can use the optional model route. Check the visible source first and remove unrelated material when possible, so you are reviewing the same content that will be processed.

02

Approve a deliberate route

Mac local AI requires verified Lifetime access, a supported installed model and a running Ollama service. Online AI sends the approved source to OneTap’s gateway and provider. Choosing one mode does not authorize silent fallback to another when it is unavailable.

03

Keep the processing choice visible

Use a clear notice as a comparison case before choosing a route for a complex source. Read the recognized text, decide what remains uncertain and select the mode that can actually answer that question. If the only missing detail is a date you can verify yourself, manual correction may be enough. If you need model interpretation, inspect the displayed source and the chosen local or online path before starting. Keep a note of unresolved ambiguity rather than repeatedly changing modes until one produces the answer you hoped for. A useful result should survive comparison with the source regardless of which processing route produced its neatly formatted suggestions.

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

One step at a time.

  1. 01

Open the source and inspect what is visible.

  2. 02

Review the currently selected processing mode.

  3. 03

Choose local rules, configured Mac AI or online AI deliberately.

  4. 04

Compare the returned next steps with the source before saving.

ONE MORE QUESTION

Will failed Mac local processing silently switch to online AI?

The modes are explicit. Choose online processing yourself if you want the displayed source sent to the gateway.

Your source stays the reference.

These guides explain product workflows. Review extracted names, dates and amounts. Features depend on your device, permissions and optional service setup.

A little more clarity, in your pocket.
