When a total looks unexpected, inspect the records behind it before drawing conclusions. The dashboard can only summarize the dates, amounts and payment confirmations saved in the workspace.
Investigate the records before changing the story the total appears to tell.
Start with the source
Start with the selected month and currency. A different month or an unexpected currency can make a correct total look wrong. Next, check whether a bill’s date was interpreted incorrectly or whether a receipt was imported twice.
Make the review useful
Open records that contribute large amounts and compare their source images or text. Confirm that Paid and the spending checkbox are appropriate. A due notice, estimate or non-expense should not be promoted to confirmed spending simply because it contains a number.
Keep the next step clear
Remember that deleting or expiring a source removes its record from the dashboard. A lower total may reflect removed information rather than lower real-world spending. Use the dashboard as a summary of recorded evidence, not an independent financial statement.
One step at a time.
- 01
Check the month and currency controls.
- 02
Inspect the contributing records and their dates.
- 03
Review duplicates, paid status and confirmation.
- 04
Compare any recent retention or deletion changes.
A little reference.
Keep the context and your next action together.
| Check | Example | Your next step |
|---|---|---|
| Unexpected increase | Duplicate receipt | Inspect and correct duplicate confirmation |
| Missing amount | Paid checkbox not confirmed | Verify the source before changing it |
| Lower history | Source expired or deleted | Review retention and available originals |
Is a month with no recorded spending proof I spent nothing?
No. It may simply mean the relevant paid bills were not recorded or confirmed in that device’s workspace.
