An export can help you preserve a workspace before a device change, but it changes how the data is protected. Know what is in the file and where you intend to keep it.
A useful backup decision includes both recoverability and the privacy of the exported file.
Start with the source
The workspace export includes saved records, budgets and review rules, with saved image previews represented as data. It is plain JSON. Unlike the encrypted local workspace, the exported file does not depend on the platform secure-storage key for its protection.
Make the review useful
Review the records you are exporting and store the file in an appropriate private location. Avoid sharing a complete workspace just to send one report. Keep original provider files separately when full-resolution pages or complete attachments are needed.
Keep the next step clear
Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android have separate workspaces without account-based server sync. Before removing an old app or key, verify your supported transfer plan and confirm what is available on the destination device. Store purchase restoration does not transfer report history.
