OneTap’s supported Mac model integration is designed around Ollama on the same computer. A local mode is not permission to expose a model service to every device on your network.
Local processing should stay a deliberate same-computer workflow.
Use the supported local address
The integration connects to the loopback service at 127.0.0.1 and refuses redirects. It does not ask you to open that service to the LAN or change host permissions. Keep the model service local rather than following unrelated instructions that broaden access to your computer.
Treat other tools as separate systems
A remote model server configured in another app does not become part of OneTap’s supported local path. Choose the app’s explicit online mode when you want its gateway instead. Document text, downloaded model files and encrypted workspace data have different storage and processing roles.
Keep the processing choice visible
If the app cannot reach the local service, start with whether Ollama is open on the same Mac. Inspect the app’s supported setup before changing any host or network settings. A successful connection from a different computer would not prove that the intended same-computer path is working. Avoid copying unrelated instructions that open a service broadly just to solve a local readiness problem. Once the local service responds, refresh installed models and use a non-sensitive source for a small check. That establishes whether the supported path is ready without converting a private local workflow into a network service or changing who can reach your computer’s model endpoint.
One step at a time.
- 01
Open Ollama on the same Mac as OneTap.
- 02
Use OneTap’s supported local model controls.
- 03
Avoid changing host exposure just to make a local request work.
- 04
Choose the separate online mode only when you intend to use it.
A little reference.
Keep the context and your next action together.
| Choice | Use it for | Check before saving |
|---|---|---|
| Loopback | Same-computer service | Keep it local |
| LAN exposure | Other computers reaching the service | Not required by OneTap |
| Online gateway | Explicit server processing | A separate mode |
Must I enable network-wide Ollama access for OneTap?
No. The supported integration uses the local loopback address and does not require opening the service to the LAN.
