Changing a local record to Cancelled is useful for your history, but it is not a command to the subscription provider. Confirm the external cancellation first.
Local status should record a verified provider outcome, not pretend to create it.
Keep proof of the actual outcome
Read the provider’s cancellation confirmation and note any final access or billing date. A message saying a request was received may not mean the cancellation is complete. Keep the relevant source so your local status reflects evidence instead of an intention.
Update local tracking deliberately
Changing tracking status to Cancelled removes the managed automatic alerts. Custom tasks remain separate and may still be useful for checking a final response or charge. Review those tasks individually rather than assuming every related reminder has ended.
Tracking is different from payment
Read a cancellation confirmation for what it actually establishes. It may confirm the end of future renewal while access continues until a later date, or it may say only that a request was received. Reflect that distinction in the record notes before changing tracking status. If a final response or bill still needs checking, keep a separate reviewed follow-up with a clear purpose. Do not preserve automatic renewal alerts merely to remember an unrelated final document, and do not assume changing local status handled that document. A useful cancelled record explains the verified provider outcome and leaves any genuinely unfinished work visible in the appropriate task rather than hiding it under a reassuring label.
One step at a time.
- 01
Complete the cancellation process in the provider’s own service.
- 02
Review its confirmation and any remaining date details.
- 03
Update the existing OneTap tracking status to Cancelled.
- 04
Inspect separate follow-up tasks that may still be relevant.
A little reference.
Keep the context and your next action together.
| Choice | Use it for | Check before saving |
|---|---|---|
| Provider cancellation | Actual contract or plan change | Confirm externally |
| Cancelled status | Your local tracking record | Reflect the checked outcome |
| Custom follow-up | Remaining loose ends | Review independently |
Does selecting Cancelled contact the provider?
No. It changes OneTap tracking and its managed alerts; it does not send a cancellation request or change the provider account.
