Not every capture needs an AI request. A short notice with a visible date and a clear instruction may be easier to check with the app’s on-device reading path.
Use the least complicated reading mode that gives you a result you can verify.
Start with the source
Start with the information you need: perhaps a deadline and one follow-up. On-device OCR plus rules can read supported content without using an AI trial. It does not make the reading automatically correct.
Make the review useful
Use online AI only when its interpretation would help and you are comfortable sending the displayed source through the OneTap gateway to the provider. Mac Lifetime users can also choose a configured supported local model.
Keep the next step clear
Compare the resulting names, dates and actions with the original regardless of the mode. If the document merely says “please respond soon,” choose your own review time instead of presenting a guessed deadline as a source fact.
One step at a time.
- 01
Identify the exact information the notice contains.
- 02
Try the on-device OCR and rules option.
- 03
Choose an explicit AI mode only if you need it.
- 04
Review the reading, schedule your next step and approve.
A little reference.
Keep the context and your next action together.
| Check | Example | Your next step |
|---|---|---|
| Clear date | A printed appointment time | Check it directly against the notice |
| Ambiguous request | “At your earliest convenience” | Choose a personal review date |
| Long explanation | Several related instructions | Consider AI after reviewing its sharing choice |
Will the app silently switch from local AI to online AI?
No. Processing-mode changes are explicit; a local connection problem does not authorize a cloud fallback.
